For veteran city letter carriers, CCAs (City Carrier Assistants), and Motor Vehicle Support/drivers, the 2020 postal uniform allowance is $464. For new letter carriers, if this is your first year and your postal uniform allowance anniversary date is after 5/21/2019, your allowance is $571.

The National Association of Letter Carriers released a bulletin on November 25, 2020 that stated the following: 

"Increase in uniform allowance on May 21, 2021, to $487 (5 percent increase from current rate) and on May 21, 2022, to $499 (another 2.5 percent increase). Additional allowance credits for newly eligible employees have been increased by the same percentages."

How can I check the balance on my postal uniforms allowance card?

You can check your postal uniform allowance balance & anniversary date by calling Citibank at 1-800-287-5003. We recommend verifying your balance before placing an order, to ensure proper processing. The uniform allowance changes every year, it's also dependent on what craft you are. Your postal allowance may also be different depending on when your anniversary date is in a particular year.

What happens if my card balance isn't enough?

We accept any personal credit card or debit card to pay the remaining balance on your order. However, you'll still need to provide your Uniform Allowance Purchase Card (UAPC) during checkout. The USPS Uniform Program mandates that all officially licensed postal uniform vendors (of which is, of course) identify eligible postal employees by their valid UAPCs. In this case, if you purchase your postal uniforms with a personal card, we'll ask for a photo of your postal employee ID.
